ADVANCED MASSAGE TECHNIQUES (PART 1)

This course is aimed at the massage therapist looking to take their skills to the ’next’ level and is a unique opportunity to train with Reg. Osteopath Joanne Perkins - if your clients present with tension and discomfort and you wish you could be more effective than you are then this course is for you.

To attend this accredited, level 3 practitioner course  you must hold a recognised qualification in massage - however, if you are sports massage trained please read the course outline carefully - Advanced Massage part 2 maybe be more suited to you.

     Advanced Massage; Sports Massage; Deep Tissue Massage

Over the course of 2 days you will learn:

  • Contraindications to deep massage treatment
  • How to reproduce a full case history
  • How to observe and record postures including scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, pelvic imbalances
  • Assess and record different tissue states e.g. hypertonia and others
  • Perform an active standing examination of the cervical and lumbar spine
  • Perform a passive examination of  spine, shoulder, elbow, sacro-iliac, hip and knee joints
  • Compile a treatment plan for common conditions
  • Deep tissue massage techniques
  • Articulation techniques

Our Course Tutor

Joanne Perkins  (Registered Osteopath)

Joanne has been an Osteopath since 1988. She also practices in cranial osteopathy, counselling theory and practice, myo-fascial acupuncture, hydrotherm massage, and strain-counterstrain technique. Joanne has been teaching Advanced Massage Techniques for many years and she  also teaches the Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques module of the B.Sc(Hons) Complementary Therapies at  University Wales Institute. Joanne is the secretary of the South Wales Osteopathic Society.
