Freeing The Shoulders - Advanced Massage
18th Mar 2022

If you regularly see clients with uncomfortable shoulder tension/stiffness & you would like to be much more effective then this course is for you.

On this course we will enhance your repertoire of techniques and your effectiveness when working on a client's shoulders - a really common area of stiffness and soreness

Course delivery - is in line with recommended Covid19 protocols & to attend this course you must have received the Covid19 vaccination:

Practical - will be a half-day session delivered face to face on the course date above at our course venue where numbers will be limited & PPE will be worn.

Theory (11th March 10am to 12.30pm) will be delivered online via a live 2.5 hour interactive Zoom session with the course tutor one week before the practical session - attendance at this session is mandatory before the practical session.

5 CPD Points

Prerequisite: You must have a minimum Level 3 body massage certificate i.e. VTCT, ITEC, C&G swedish, holistic, aromatherapy or sports massage

This workshop covers deep massage and pressure techniques for release and re-energising of the muscles. These are allied with passive movements and dynamic stretches to promote greater ease and flexibility.

The theory session will be interactive & incorporates a review of the main muscles of this area, looking at them in their functional groups to help make sense of them. We will also look at how to mobilise & promote flexibility in the shoulders

During the practical session we’ll work with the client in a prone position, which enables us to get at a large number of the muscles that relate to the shoulder girdle and the arm. The workshop looks at the choice of appropriate techniques, ways of moderating the pressure, how to blend them smoothly into a massage session, and relevant exercises to offer the client for self-maintenance. There is an emphasis on good bodyuse for the practitioner, and ’listening’ with your hands (monitoring and adapting to the client’s responses).

In addition to the course booklet all students will receive access to a video tutorial covering the techniques taught by Darien
