Advanced CPD for qualified Aromatherapists
Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions affect individuals of all ages and this advanced CPD course aims to take a look at improve your knowledge and understanding of how best to blend in order to address such conditions.
This course is aimed at qualified aromatherapists wanting to explore effective treatment options for MSK conditions in terms of selecting appropriate essential oils and aromatic bases. Although the course is mainly theoretical we will also discuss various other treatment modalities such as massage, thermotherapy and cryotherapy which could be incorporated into your treatment. In addition you will explore the properties of 6 interesting essential oils which are particularly useful for MSK conditions.
We will send you a 1 ml sample of each oil so that you can “experience” the aroma of the oils as you study the course.

This is primarily a theory based course which will look briefly at the pathophysiology and symptomatology of msk conditions. Selection of appropriate essentials oils will be discussedin relation to their therapeutic actions and how this relates to outward signs,as well as the inward process,of inflammation. The benefits of massage and the use of heat and cold will be explored in relation to how thesecan be applied in a safe and appropriate manner for our clients.
By the end of the course you will have hopefully
- Have an understanding of a selection of various MSK conditions
- Briefly explore the different chemical families in aromatherapy
- Be aware of particular essential oils that have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and pain-relieving properties and how these can be blended safely with maximum effect
- Have been alerted to other forms of treatment techniques that can be used alongside this client group
- Have an awareness of other appropriate lifestyle advice
- Explore the properties of 6 essential oils
Here’s how your online course works
Once you have paid the course fee we will send you your essential oil samples; a course study pack by email along with instructions on how to get started and you will be given access to the course online video tutorials:
Video Tutorials – there are 2 videos, both feature your course tutor, one for the course theory and one for practical techniques which you can watch as often as you need to
The student study packs contain all of the course theory & will enable you to make notes as you work your way through the video presentations.
Written assessment: When you have worked your way through the theory section you will need to complete some written questions. These will need to be sent to your tutor for marking & your tutor will give you feedback during a live Zoom session (you do not need a zoom account to take this course)
Zoom Session – Your tutor will send you a link to open at an agreed date & time & you will have one to one time with her to receive your theory assessment & have an opportunity for any questions that you may have
To receive your FHT Accredited CPD certificate you need to successfully complete the written assessment & ‘attend’ the zoom session with your tutor

Kate Mulliss
Kate Mulliss has been a complementary therapist for over 20 years; her main areas of interest are reflexology, massage and aromatherapy. She previously worked as part of a therapy team in natural health, osteopathic and naturopathic medicine clinics. She has a special interest in using reflexology to support clients diagnosed with sub-fertility and also works with maternity clients in all trimesters of pregnancy. She has taught in both local FE college and in private training schools for over 15 years and is currently involved in reflexology training and education activities along with supporting reflexologists with their practice.
